It is so lovely to see you all after the winter break! We all worked really hard last term and I hope after a much deserved break we are all ready and keen to work very hard this term! Our new topic is a really fun one 'Vroom Vroom' and the children already seem really enthusiastic about it- helping to create our new train book corners! With June fast approaching, when the phonics screening is taking place for your children, please make the most of your new Espresso log in and explore the phonics section in Key Stage 1 under the English section. It has video clips that show and say the sounds for you and games for the children to play to really develop their phonic skills, which in turn will help them with their reading and writing. Thank you for your continued support!
On Thursday 4th April, Jubilee had it's very own world book day! The costumes in our class were amazing which made it very tricky for Mrs Davies to pick just one winner. Take a look at the photos below and see who you can spot!
This half term we had such great fun creating our class assembly to show to all the parents the wonderful things we had been learning about 'Explorers'. We shared many exciting facts about the explorers we studied in Geography and History and shared some of the wonderful cross curricular links we made through diary writing, news paper articles, fact finding using the internet and discussing thoughts and feelings the explorers may have experienced during these tricky times. We all think we are just like those brave explorers - we always try our hardest and never give up!
In R.E. we learnt all about the story of Jesus Christ and why Easter is such an important time for Christians all over the world. We created story books to recap the events that took place over the long weekend and we also created some beautiful art work to express our ideas about Easter and the meaning of new life that this time of year represents.
In maths this term we have been exploring measurement. We compared the length of different objects. We ordered our class mates into size order from tallest to smallest. We also explored mass and thought about which things were heavier or lighter than a beanbag- first we estimated using our hands, then we used the scales to measure more accurately. We had so much fun!
In D.T. this half term we have been designing and making our own land vehicles. After designing our vehicles we painted them and then added the features. We used various tools to cut and join our axles and wheels to make our vehicles move. After completing our designs and making our products we reviewed them to see what we could improve next time. Come and take a look in class at our fabulous creations!
In science this half term we have been looking at plants. We have been on a nature walk round Jubille to see what grows in our school. We have explored different types of flowering plants including trees and have learnt about the function of each different part of a plant. To make our play area look beautiful in the spring and summer term we have started to plant bulbs and seeds in our garden area. We have learnt about how to care for plants and all the things they need to grow! With Mrs Huq's green fingers and our knowledge we hope they will bloom beautifully in the coming weeks.
In our P.E. Lessons this half term we have been doing gymnastics. We have been exploring how to travelling and move around the hall in different ways. We have been using our bodies to make different shapes.

We cannot wait to have you in our class to learn some wonderful new interesting things! This is our class page where we will post different pieces of your work/achievements from lots of different subjects. When you feel proud of something, please let us know so that we can post it onto our page. Remember to keep visiting throughout the year to explore some of the hard work that you have completed. On our page, you can also see what we are going to be learning about in our class newsletter. You can access this page at home so if you would like to, you will also be able to share your learning with your grown-ups.

In Autumn term we followed instructions to create our own jam sandwiches. We used time conjunctions to make sure our instructions were in the right order.
In maths we have learned to name various 2D and 3D shapes. We have used straws to construct 2D shapes and have begun to explore their properties.
When we were looking at instructions we also created our very own fruit faces. We were inspired by the artist Archimboldo.
In English we role played the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We thought about what each character might say when Jack brought home the magic beans!
In Science we have been looking at 'Animals including humans'. For one of our lessons we went on a bird walk around our local area. We saw swans, magpies, parakeets, pigeons, crows and even a woodpecker!
In English we looked at the story 'No Dinner' we role played different scenes from the story. First we pretended to be the different animals who wanted to eat the poor old woman. Then we acted out the part when the old woman ate so much food and became really fat!
