School Council Elections 2016

The time has come again for our School Council Election. This year, we are coinciding our School Election with the 2016 Mayor Elections which will be taking place on Thursday 5th May 2016. We have been learning about the role of the Mayor of London and we even had a visit from our own Mayor (the Mayor of Bexley.) She taught us about the history of the Bexley coat of arms and explained all the responsibilities she has as the Mayor.

On Friday 6th May 2016, children in KS1 and KS2 will be taking part in Jubilee’s School Council Election. Children in KS1 and KS2 classes have written manifestos which explain why they want to be a school councillor and then their peers voted which child they believe should represent their class in the election.  Each child then stood up in a pre-election campaign assembly and read their manifesto aloud to the school. They will now begin campaigning for your vote. Remember children on the 6th May 2016, you will receive your official registration card which will need to be taken in the hall and exchange it for your ballot card. In turn, this will allow you to vote!

Below are the candidates who are running for School Councillor 2016-2017. They have each provided a video which outlines their manifesto. Watch the videos carefully and remember you can only vote for one person. Who do you think will listen to your views the most? Who do you think will help implement change in the school? Who will you vote for?

Good luck everyone!
