Year 5/6 - Athens Class

Summer 2

Athens class used perspective and vocal point to draw a futuristic town from the video Ruin that we have been watching in class.

Athens class had to investigate which materials allowed electricity to pass through them.

Welcome back to school after a well-earned break!  I hope you all had some kind of rest over the Easter period. We have lots of fun and engaging learning plan over these two terms as we look on the topic: Angry Earth.

Athens Class made different types of projects relating to Angry Earth.

Athens class learning the Locomotion dance for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Athens class made houses to depict family life in the 1950's.

SPRING TERM 1

A massive welcome back after the Christmas break! We have lots of fun things planned this term, which I know that the children will love. We endeavour each day to make the learning fun and provide a creative curriculum which is both broad and balanced.

Spring 2

Athens class created different African sculptures of the Benin Kingdom for our topic: Amazing Africa

Athens class celebrating Chinese New Year.

Athens class had to bring in recycled materials to build a 3d model to solve a problem that they had identified. This is based on the story The boy who harnessed the wind.

Athens class combined dance in P.E. with Music. They had to listen to a piece of music composed by Ann Meredith and use their body parts to make sounds. This is called body percussion.

Athens class carried out an investigate to explain how  unsupported objects fall towards the Earth because of the force of gravity.

Autumn Term Topic - 'Equality Through the Ages'

Athens class had to write increasingly complex instructions for their computer games.

Athens class had to role play what it was like being a disabled child in a primary school. This is based on the short film Ian.

Athens class had to use balances and movements in increasingly creative way using apparatus (over, under, across etc).
